All About Alison

This is a bit about me.  My name is Alison Tree and I have lived in Bedford for most of my life.  I am married with two adult sons and two gorgeous grandsons.

I trained and qualified as a professional chef at Brighton Technical College in the late 1970’s, I then proceeded to work in Brighton, Stratford Upon Avon, London and Bedford hotels before marrying and settling back in Bedford.  When our sons were born I moved into office work, working for 14 years at a local GP practice and then for 11 years as an accountant.  During this time I made many cakes which were enjoyed by family and friends.

In the spring of 2011 I decided it was time to follow my true passion full time and Putnoe Cakes was born.

I am a keen runner, running at least 3 – 4 times a week, you will often see me running round Bedford or Mowsbury Park especially on a lovely summer’s day.

Our favourite holiday destination is the central Lake District, we love going out on long walks with a good pub stop somewhere during the day.

The photo is of my husband and I in the middle of my favourite walk which takes us from Clappersgate (near Ambleside) round and down to our ‘pit stop’ at Skelwith Bridge.  We visit Chesters which is a really good coffee shop serving fantastic savouries and cakes  After that we continue on our walk up onto Loughrigg fell before dropping back down into Ambleside feeling tired but invigorated.
